Job Title: Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Job Type: Contract / Full-Time (Onsite)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support students with hearing impairments in a school setting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equal access to education by facilitating communication between students, teachers, and peers in a mainstream classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students in classroom settings
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
• Support students in understanding instructional content and classroom discussions
• Assist with note-taking and tutoring when interpretation is not required
• Participate in meetings as part of the educational support team
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must meet California Department of Education Educational Interpreting Standards , including one of the following:
• RID Certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or equivalent

Minimum score of 4.0 or higher on one of the following assessments:

1. EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment)
2. ESSE-I/R (Educational Sign Skills Evaluation – Interpreter/Receptive)
3. NAD/ACCI Assessment
