Overview SMALL ENGINE MECHANIC Hatchet Hardware is an ACE Hardware-affiliated chain of family-owned hardware stores native to Upstate New York. The name "Hatchet Hardware" represents our intention to break the average hardware store's mold by thinking outside the box and being bold, and we have done so since 2014. Hatchet Hardware is a family-run and operated company. We have eight incredibly diverse shops in Upstate New York and we are currently looking add a skilled Small Engine Mechanic add to our amazing staff. We are a leading provider of outdoor power equipment in Upstate New York and are proud to be a certified dealer of EGO and Stihl products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repair on customer equipment, including tune-ups, replacements, and troubleshooting. Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues with small engines and provide effective solutions. Accurately update service records in the company’s system, including work performed, parts used, and customer information. Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues and recommend services while providing excellent customer service. Adhere to safety regulations and best practices while working on equipment. Assist in managing parts inventory and ordering necessary components for repairs. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High School Diploma or equivalent required. Comple on of a small engine repair program or relevant vocational training is preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in small engine repair, including experience with Stihl gas equipment. Certification in small engine repair or equivalent is a plus. Must have good communication skills. Dress according to company policy. A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required. Possess a valid in-state driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for an extended period, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties. Move and handle equipment (up to 50 pounds) throughout the store, which entails lifting and performing all functions. Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business. While performing the duties of this job, the Small Engine Mechanic occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. In addition, the Small Engine Mechanic may work near outside weather conditions.
