Tourism Programs Manager Job ID: 108208 Location: Oregon City, Oregon Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Compensation Annual Pay Range: $105,641.524 - $142,616.637 About the Role The Tourism Programs Manager leads our Destination Development and Community Relations department and supervises four staff to strengthen the county’s visitor economy and destination sustainability. This role provides strategic direction for destination development and partnerships, and advises the Executive Director on overall organizational strategy. Responsibilities and Typical Tasks Lead and manage the Destination Development and Community Relations team, overseeing staffing, performance, and professional development Develop and implement destination development strategies, including vendor partnerships, contract negotiation, and procurement processes Manage the department’s budget, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and timely communication of deviations Conduct research and data analysis to inform strategy, including collection, analysis, reporting, and sharing insights with stakeholders and the Tourism Development Council Lead accessible tourism initiatives, promoting inclusive visitor experiences and staying informed on industry trends Serve as the Office of Tourism’s liaison to tourism partners, destination leads, and land manager partners, building and maintaining relationships for shared goals Required Minimum Qualifications At least six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in tourism development, destination management, economic development, or a closely related field Experience developing and implementing strategic plans or programs Experience managing budgets, contracts, and/or vendor relationships Strong knowledge of destination management organization (DMO) operations and project management Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed Preferred Qualifications A bachelor's degree in tourism, business administration, public administration, marketing, economics, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Experience working in or with a public sector or government organization Experience in tourism marketing programs and/or collaboration with them Experience with industry research, data analysis, and performance measurement Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including elected officials, community organizations, and industry partners Knowledge of sustainable and accessible tourism best practices Pre-Employment Requirements Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for county business travel Work Schedule This position follows the County’s alternate workweek program, working 40 hours Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). The role is eligible for hybrid on‑site/telework; specific details will be discussed during the offer. Telework locations must be in Oregon or Washington.
