Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

You’ll work Monday through Friday on a full-time schedule during the school year, playing an essential role in ensuring accessible communication for students. Whether interpreting in classrooms, meetings, or activities, your skills will enhance education and inclusion for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Qualifications & Experience

• Current EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
• Passing score on EIPA written exam
• Prior experience in educational or school-based interpreting preferred
• Strong American Sign Language (ASL) and English language skills
• Professional, adaptable, and collaborative approach
• Ability to work on-site during required school hours

Role Responsibilities

• Provide interpretation between ASL and spoken English for K-12 students and staff
• Facilitate communication in classrooms, assemblies, parent meetings, and extracurricular events
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Adjust interpreting style to fit students’ developmental and educational needs
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with educators and specialists
• Ensure all interpretations are accurate, clear, and culturally appropriate
