Job Description

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist for full-time night shifts to support our growing Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a key member of a collaborative, patient-centered care team, the Registered Respiratory Therapist will provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and, when applicable, pediatric patients in both acute and critical care settings. Working closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals, you will assess, plan, and deliver individualized respiratory therapies designed to improve patient outcomes and overall quality of life. In this role, you will perform thorough respiratory assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, and initiate or adjust treatment plans in accordance with established clinical protocols and provider orders. You will administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, chest physiotherapy, and other therapeutic interventions; manage and monitor patients on invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation; and respond promptly to rapid responses, codes, and other respiratory-related clinical emergencies during the night shift. You will also be responsible for obtaining and analyzing arterial blood gases, performing pulmonary function-related testing as appropriate, and documenting all care accurately in the electronic medical record. You will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient progress, participate in bedside rounds, and contribute to care planning and discharge education. A core component of the position includes patient and family education on respiratory disease management, proper use of respiratory equipment, and strategies to support recovery and prevent readmissions.
