Payroll Specialist

Monsey, NY

$75,000 - $85,000

Our Client is seeking a Payroll SpecialistThis person will be responsible for managing payroll and benefits across multiple properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. Acts as a key point of contact for employees and management, resolving issues and improving payroll processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees across multiple properties and locations.
  • Review and verify timekeeping records, pay rates, deductions, and other payroll data for accuracy.
  • Handle employee benefits and company invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
  • Administer and reconcile benefits deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related items.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management and accounting.
  • Maintain and update payroll records in the HRIS/payroll system.
  • Handle employee questions and concerns regarding pay, taxes, or timekeeping promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2s and other tax filings.
  • Collaborate with HR and Accounting on audits and reporting as needed.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to payroll processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Apply analytical skills when issues are found, and implement smoother processes.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-site or real estate/property management environment.
  • Proficiency with payroll software UKG, UltiPro. ADP, Paylocity, Paychex.
  • Advanced Excel skills required: extensive experience with complex formulas, pivot tables, data modeling, Power Query, Power Pivot, macros, and automation to support critical business analysis.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and wage/hour compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, Analytical, and time management skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with employees and management.
  • Proactive analytical skills, capable of diagnosing problems, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Exhibits self-motivation and the ability to act decisively to achieve objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with property management systems (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or working toward certification preferred.
