Job Description

Industrial Cleaner

The Industrial Cleaner supports a clean, safe, and well-organized coffee roasting and food manufacturing facility by performing sanitation and housekeeping duties across office, lab, kitchen, restroom, breakroom, warehouse, and equipment areas. This role helps maintain high food safety and cleanliness standards to protect product quality and team safety, following established operating procedures and safety guidelines. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize office, lab, kitchen, restroom, and breakroom areas to maintain a hygienic work environment.
  • Sweep and mop warehouse floors and general production areas to keep surfaces clean and free of debris.
  • Separate and dispose of trash, recycling, and compost in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Complete deep cleaning projects as needed to support sanitation and food safety requirements.
  • Maintain an organized janitorial storage area and perform regular inventory counts of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Use equipment and machinery such as floor sweepers, pressure washers, steam cleaners, and pallet jacks as part of the cleaning process.
  • Perform high dusting and warehouse cleaning tasks, including cleaning hard-to-reach areas.
  • Follow food safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) appropriate for a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure compliance with SQF, HACCP, OSHA, FSMA, and all food and worker safety processes, procedures, regulations, and sustainability programs.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation and safety checklists accurately and on time.
  • Report maintenance, safety, or sanitation issues promptly to a supervisor.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to sanitation, safety, and efficiency as directed.
  • Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely, following proper storage and disposal methods.
  • Perform repetitive cleaning tasks with strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Carry out other related cleaning and sanitation duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery, including floor sweepers, pressure washers, steam cleaners, and pallet jacks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, including proper storage, handling, and disposal methods.
  • Strong attention to detail when performing cleaning and sanitation tasks.
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic and professional attitude.
  • Ability to interact and communicate in a professional manner with coworkers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds of free weight safely.
  • Ability to push and pull 150 to 2,500 pounds using pallet jacks and/or heavy machinery.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, and kneel as needed throughout the shift.
  • Ability to grasp, use fingers, and reach to perform cleaning and material handling tasks.
  • Ability to work in an environment with noise and vibration.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a food manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety procedures.
  • Understanding of SQF, HACCP, OSHA, and FSMA requirements is beneficial.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives is a plus.
  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus and can support effective communication with team members.

The role involves regular use of cleaning equipment such as floor sweepers, pressure washers, steam cleaners, and pallet jacks, as well as handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines. The environment includes typical industrial noise and vibration associated with manufacturing equipment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., supporting a consistent daytime work routine.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
