Role Description Arcadis is seeking an entry‑level Archaeologist to support environmental planning projects (e.g., linear infrastructure projects) within the greater Los Angeles area. Assignments may, on occasion, include work outside of California. In this role, you will conduct archaeological field work for projects at all levels of investigation, including survey, testing excavation and evaluation, site recording, and construction monitoring. You will also be responsible for preparing technical reports and related documentation. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with a diverse, multidisciplinary team across the U.S. The assignment requires excellent time and workload management skills to contribute to a fast‑paced and dynamic program. The position offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. A successful candidate can expect to work remotely and from the office as needed, based on demands of project and client teams. The ability to travel to various project sites, including overnight travel, will be required (field work expectations may be up to, and occasionally exceed, approximately 50%). Accountabilities As an Archaeologist, you will apply your technical knowledge to support archaeological services across a range of sectors, including linear utilities, oil and gas, mining, rail and transit, and renewable energies. You will be a key cultural resources team member and work as part of an interdisciplinary environmental team. Responsibilities include: Conducting archaeological fieldwork, including monitoring and preparing technical documents. Performing cultural resources surveys and, on occasion, managing small field crews for larger projects. Using GPS systems and carrying supplies weighing up to 40 pounds for long field hours. Working in rugged and remote locations, and under a range of weather extremes. Authoring technical documents and communicating survey details and results to project teams. Qualifications & Experience Required qualifications for the role include: Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology/archaeology 1 year of experience in cultural resources management Demonstrated practical field experience in California Working knowledge of GPS systems and the collection of field data Basic knowledge of California tribes, culture areas, and material culture Basic knowledge of cultural resources management, regulatory requirements, and environmental laws Preferred Qualifications: Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualified Salary The salary range for this position is $70,304 - $89,424 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location. Benefits Arcadis offers benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions.
